The Test of Mortality...

"Oh Lord, let me forgive those who sin differently than I do."

~Stephen Covey, author of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

I love this Quote! For me it is most bittersweet. Maybe because it strikes too close to home. Why do we feel inclined to point out, even if only to ourselves the flaws in those around us? And why is it so much harder to forgive those who sin differently then we do? We all are in the battle of overcoming our weaknesses to become all we were created to be. Even if all of our weaknesses are different, are we not all in that same boat called mortality. And upon closer look, could the test of mortality though personalized be more equalized then we at first thought?

Perhaps if we looked for the strengths of those about us instead of their weaknesses we could value them for who they really are and what they have to offer. Then when we truly hit the rapids in life, we can enter them with confidence, for though we could never make it through alone, we know that united in our efforts we can paddle with strength, purpose, and skill. Thus together we help each other, our strengths can overcome their weakness and their strengths can overcome ours so that together we can all become what we were created to be.

What would it be like to be the wind?

I am sitting at a desk looking out the window watching the wind play with the trees in my yard, and I find that I am in a fanciful and inquisitive mood. What would it be like to be the wind? You are no longer just air, but air in forceful motion. Is the wind always playful, or does she sometimes feel thoughtful, pensive, angry or sad? Does she fly through the air, or soar? What is it like to maneuver through the skies and cut through or move all within your path? What does the wind do when the air doesn’t feel inclined to be well…windy? Does the Wind have a county home for when she want’s to get away? Does she like the twinkling sounds of chimes, or does the noise grate at her nerves? What happens when the wind becomes tired? What is the language of the wind, and what would she say to you if you could understand? Oh I have so many questions I think I shall just have to ask a local genie for the favor to become the wind for a day or a year to learn for myself. When I find out I promise to tell you all what I find.

A day in the life of a Mermaid....

I have often wondered what it would be like to be a mermaid. How deep in the ocean do they really live? Can they see colors and light that is so far advanced to human ability, in able to see in the darkest depths of the ocean? Do they have a special light source that is not known to land living man to illuminate the deepest darkest waters? Do they rule all the creatures of the ocean, or do they live by truce with the more powerful creatures of the deep? How long do they live? What is their culture like? What do they have in replace of dancing? Do they have artists? Do they have special kinds of books that can be under water? Do they speak a specific language or all languages? What is their music like? Can they talk to the fellow sea creatures? What do they eat? What is it like to swim in the deep? I have so many questions that the only solution is for me to either become good friends with a mermaid (so I can ask her all the questions I have bubbling inside without her being bothered by my impertinence…), or make friends with a fairy who can grant me (safely of course) the ability to become a mermaid for a time (A day perhaps) to experience it for myself.

How we see ourselves

The rarest thing in the world is a woman who is pleased with photographs of herself. ~Elizabeth Metcalf

I came across this quote and asked myself why this is true. It is a rare woman indeed, who is pleased with photos of herself and an ever rarer woman who is pleased with her reflection in the mirror.

What would happen, if when we see ourselves in the mirror, and in pictures our internal voice said hello beautiful, instead of hello ugly? I am reminded that our thoughts, become our actions, become our habits, become our character, become our destiny. If this is true what is the destiny we women are creating with out negative thoughts, and what could it be if we changed those thoughts positive?

Cheese

Maybe I should have been born a mouse, for I just adore cheese. I love to use it in a myriad of recipes . For example it is great as a topping on salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes.

However when I want to just snack on cheese, my favorite two kinds are Mild Cheddar, and Swiss. I was just eating thin cut slices of Swiss cheese, and I have come to the conclusion that the best tasting slices are the ones with the big holes on them.

For some reason if the Swiss cheese has only little holes or no holes, it doesn’t taste good at all, but when it has big holes it tastes wonderful. Ummm just thinking of it makes my mouth water. I think I hall have another slice or two.
